Named in honor of the late Dr. Lila Fahlman, a distinguished educator and founder of the CCMW (Canadian Council of Muslim Women), this scholarship is made possible by CCMW and the generous contributions from community members and sponsors.

The scholarship is designed to support Canadian Muslim women who are currently enrolled in full-time undergraduate or certificate programs at Canadian colleges or universities.

Preference may be given to those who have demonstrated support for CCMW through their volunteer efforts.

Benefits of the Scholarship

  • The scholarship offers up to $1,500 to each recipient.

Requirements

Eligible applicants must be:

  • Muslim women students.
  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
  • Enrolled in a full-time undergraduate diploma or certificate program at a Canadian college or university for the upcoming academic year.
  • Committed to completing the full academic year.
  • Actively contributing to society through civic engagement and/or volunteer work.

Considerable preference will be given to applicants who show a strong connection to the mission of CCMW, an organization dedicated to affirming the identities of Muslim women in Canada through faith, social justice, and meaningful community engagement.

Application Date and Process

To begin your application, click on the link to the application website. You will need the following documents:

  • A signed scholarship application form.
  • A 1-2 minute video or audio recording explaining why you deserve this scholarship. Your recording should include your contributions to civic engagement, volunteer activities, academic achievements, significant accomplishments, and future goals. If creating a video or audio recording is a barrier, you may submit an essay of up to 500 words, double-spaced in 12-point font.
  • A summary of your financial need.
  • Two letters of reference, which may come from a teacher, professor, or someone familiar with your community service. A reference letter from a CCMW member who knows your accomplishments could be beneficial.
  • Your most recent academic transcript.
